Demand for antenna technology boosts Cooper Antennas Ltd

Geoffrey Cooper CBE, previously CEO of Marlow-based Chelton, left Cobham in 2005 and began investing in the research and development that gave the company its technology base. R&D began in a garden shed and, a year before the release, moved into a factory on the Globe Estate in Marlow.

The order book included a $17M contract for a Satcom antenna for the USAF F-16. Contracts won with US affiliate Aviatech from the US military over the previous three years included:

865F-16 aircraft fitted with combined line-of-sight and satellite communications antennas over three to four years, with 200 delivered to date.
4,000X-wing UHF Satcom antennas for the US Army and Marine Corps.
15,000+Static dischargers for the F-16 for the USAF.
$1M+Contract for additional X-wing communication antennas for US Army and Marine Corps land vehicles.

Cooper said the company has a team of highly competent engineers who take pride in producing antennas that meet the very exacting specifications required by the military, and that research and development is a key part of the business.

Summarised from the press release at cooperantennas.com. The company has since moved to Thames Industrial Estate, Marlow.
